Gene Nomenclature

The names of human genes are defined by the HUGP Gene Nomenclature Committee, HGNC. The resulting nomenclature database is an example of the pattern file format accepted by medMatch. This database consists simply of a tab-delimited text file, where the first line indicates the column identities. medMatch expects to find the following seven columns in arbitrary order:
  1. HGNC ID
  2. Approved Symbol
  3. Approved Name
  4. Status
  5. Previous Symbols
  6. Previous Names
  7. Aliases
Apart form case, column designations need to match exactly these labels.
